FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COMMUNIQUE City of Asheville Approves Greywater Recycling System Installation Asheville, NC – January 10, 2008 Through the combined efforts of two Asheville business owners, the first authorized installation of a Greywater Recycling System has been completed. AquaPro Solutions LLC and A2Z Plumbing Co. Incorporated have successfully worked with the City of Asheville Inspection Officials in gaining approval for installation of the BRAC Greywater System.
The basic concept of greywater recycling is to collect used water from the shower, sink, laundry or other greywater drain into a storage tank. The water is filtered and treated within the tank and then pumped out to flush toilets. The installation of a Greywater System can help cut water usage by 30% in an average home. In addition to conserving water, greywater recycling helps save money in reduced water consumption charges and wastewater treatment or sewer fees. It’s interesting to note that in homes across the U.S., the bathroom accounts for 74 percent of water used. About 5 percent of all domestic water consumption runs from the lavatory faucet in the sink, and eventually into the sewer. About 40 percent of all domestic water consumed is used to flush toilets.
The BRAC systems provided by AquaPro Solutions are shipped completely pre-assembled for easy installation by a licensed plumber and can be installed for renovations and new construction as well as retrofitted into an existing plumbing system. In addition to residential applications, special BRAC systems are available for commercial use in car washes, restaurants, office buildings, laundromats, etc. “Any place you have Greywater that can be recycled, you can install a BRAC System” said Chris Hanson of AquaPro Solutions. “We chose the BRAC System because it is the most reliable, user friendly and cost effective Greywater Recycling System available; it’s the system I am putting in my home” said Hanson.
Another option available for those interested in greywater recycling is available in the AQUS System. This new technology stores and reuses water from the bathroom lavatory to flush the toilet. Tucked inside the vanity below the sink, the AQUS reservoir works in conjunction with standard lavatory pipes and holds up to 5 ½ gallons of water from the sink. Once installed, this system can reduce metered water usage in a two-person household by about 10–20 gallons a day – or approximately 5,000 gallons a year. The AQUS System is easy to maintain and ideal for those not wishing to purchase a larger system.
